Transfer Course System

TCS

Provides functional support to the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools (OUARS) in maintaining data for all students' previous course work taken at transfer institutions, as well as results of their examinations (e.g. Advance Placement, International Baccalaureate, etc.). Transfer credit data are fed to DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System), articulated by its transfer articulation process, and evaluated along with other UC Berkeley home courses against degree requirements in order to show progress toward degree completion. The system is comprised of both batch and online components that process data stored in the central DB2 Student Database. It interfaces with DARS, UGA, and the EDI transcripts subsystem. EDI Transcript subsystem serves as a front-end to TCS to process and track incoming and outgoing electronic transcripts transmitted via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) from/to transfer institutions that have established trading partnership agreements with UC Berkeley.
