| Setting up the appropriate configuration to connect to the Internet/Network depends on how you are going to connect. This set of steps is to set up TCP/IP for a network connection through an ethernet system (UC Berkeley System). |
| |
| These steps should work for both the Windows 2000 and XP Systems. The graphic representations may look different depending on which system you are configuring. Right click the "Network Neighborhood" icon on your desktop (you will have to go through the "Start" menu for the appropriate icon in XP). Click the "Properties" menu item. |
|
| |
| Right click the "Local Area Connection" link (icon) and select "Properties". |
|
| |
|
| |
| The Local Area Connection Properties window opens, click once on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" listed in the "This connection uses the following items:" window. Click the "Properties" button on the right side under this window. |
|
| |
| Make sure the radio button for "Use the following IP address" is selected and then fill in the appropriate areas with the TCP/IP information provided by your system administrator (These are just examples, not for use in any machine). Click the "Ok" button and close all the windows to finish the configuration of TCP/IP properties. |
