  • How to Clear Your Academic Block


    Students in the Colleges of Chemistry, Environmental Design, Letters and Science and Natural Resources:

    If you have an academic block, you must visit the Dean's Office of your College.

    Environmental Design 234 Wurster Hall
    Letters and Science 113 Campbell Hall
    Natural Resources 137 Giannini Hall

    Students in the College of Engineering:

    If you have an academic block due to change of college, the block will be removed automatically when the process is completed at the Office of the Registrar. For all other academic blocks, students should see their Student Affairs Adviser in 308 McLaughlin Hall.

    Students in the Graduate Division:

    Academic blocks placed by the Graduate Division can be cleared by contacting Graduate Degrees, 302 Sproul Hall, (510)642-7330.

    How to Clear Your Administrative Block


    ABBR: SL (STATUS LAPSE)

    Your registration is blocked by the Office of the Registrar for failure to complete your registration for a previous term and for failure to respond to notifications from our office.

    To clear block: Go to the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, or call (510) 642-5990.

    ABBR: EA (EAP - EDUCATION ABROAD PROGRAM)

    Your registration is blocked by the Office of the Registrar at the request of the main office of the Education Abroad Program at UC Santa Barbara.

    To clear block: Go to the Special Registration Unit in the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, or call (510) 642-5288. You may also call the EAP main office at UC Santa Barbara at (805) 893-4812.

    ABBR: MC (STUDENT CONDUCT)

    Your registration is blocked by the Office of the Registrar at the request of the Office of Student Conduct for non-compliance with disciplinary accords and for failure to respond to notifications from their office.

    To clear block: Go to the Office of Student Conduct, 326 Sproul Hall, or call (510) 643-9069.

    ABBR: MR (MISCELLANEOUS)

    Your registration is blocked by the Office of the Registrar.

    To clear block: Go to the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, or call (510) 642-5990.

    ABBR: SH (UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICE)

    Your registration is blocked by the Office of the Registrar at the request of the Student Health Service.

    To clear block: Go to the University Health Service at the Tang Center, 2222 Bancroft Way.

    ABBR: RS (RESIDENCY)

    Your registration is blocked by the Residence Affairs Unit of the Office of the Registrar for failure to submit a Statement of Legal Residence when you were admitted or readmitted to the UC Berkeley.

    To clear block: Go to the Residence Affairs Unit in the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, or call (510) 642-5990.
    Counter hours: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, M-F
    Phone hours: 8:00 - 10:00 am and 3:00 - 5:00 pm, M-F

    ABBR: FS (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

    Your registration is blocked by the Special Registration Unit of the Office of the Registrar for failure to present your passport or other visa documents.

    To clear block: Go to the Special Registration Unit in the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, or call (510) 642-1988.

    How to Clear Your Financial Block


    Reason Description
    CARS Indicates delinquent balance on CARS account.

    See Quick Statement screen in BearFacts CARS menu for account balance or contact Loans and Receivables, (510) 642-3190 for amount.

    To clear block: Submit payment to Cashier's Office, 140 University Hall. Block will be released by the next day.
    CUBS Indicates delinquent balance on CUBS account. Debt might include past due University Loans, Perkins Loan, or Sundry Debt invoice.

    Contact Loans and Receivables Office, (510) 642-3190 for amount.

    To clear block: Submit payment to Cashier's Office, 140 University Hall. Block will be released by the next day.
    Emerg Loan Indicates delinquent Emergency Loan.

    Contact Loans and Receivables Office, (510) 642-3190 for amount.

    To clear block: Submit payment to Cashier's Office, 140 University Hall. Inform Cashier's of block status for immediate release.
    Loan Indicates missing or incomplete Perkins Loan documents or Exit Interview forms. May indicate a delinquent Perkins Loan balance.

    To clear block: Contact Loan Coordinator in Loans and Receivables Office, (510)642-8310 for necessary forms.
    Ret Check Indicates check was returned by bank.

    Contact Loans and Receivables Office, (510)642-3190 for amount.

    To clear block: Submit payment to Cashier's Office, 140 University Hall. Inform Cashier's of block status for immediate release.
    Sundry Debt Indicates miscellaneous debt, i.e., library fines, locker rental, computer fees.

    Contact Loans and Receivables Office, (510) 642-3190 for amount.

    To clear block: Submit payment to Cashier's Office, 140 University Hall. Inform Cashier's of block status for immediate release.
    Univ Loan Indicates delinquent University short-term fee or living expense loan.

    Contact Loans and Receivables at (510) 642-3190 for amount.

    To clear block: Submit payment to Cashier's Office, 140 University Hall. Inform Cashier's of block status for immediate release.
