Release 7.5

Student Information Systems released Go-Live 7.5 on Saturday, February 18. Below are some of the examples of functionality with this release:

Students

Summer (Undergrad and Grad)

  • Enrollments and enrollment appointments for Summer Sessions are available in the Enrollment card on the My Academics tab in CalCentral. Summer Sessions’ classes descriptions are displayed next to each class on the Semesters card, also located on the My Academics tab. Unit fees (tuition) for each session are due May 19 and if a cancellation for the term occurs, a $100 Term Cancellation fee will be applied.

Midterm Deficient Grades - My Academics - Semesters

  • Beginning March 6, students who receive a deficient midterm grade will see this information on the Semesters card of the My Academics tab in CalCentral.

My Academics (Graduate Students) - Committee Card

  • The Committee card allows graduate students to view members of their active qualifying examination, thesis, and/or dissertation committees. The card provides a photo of each active committee member assigned to important academic milestones with departmental assignments, committee role, and contact information. Completed committees will not display during this release. This partial Committee card functionality will be supplemented with completed committee membership in a future enhancement.

Advisors

Summer - (Undergrad and Grad)

  • Enrollments for Summer Sessions began on February 1. Students can now view their Summer appointments and enrollments via the Enrollment card in CalCentral. Unit fees (tuition) for each session are due May 19 and if a cancellation for the term occurs, a $100 Term Cancellation fee will be applied.

Midterm Deficient Grades - My Academics - Semesters

  • Beginning March 6, students who receive a deficient midterm grade will be able to access this information on the Semesters card of the My Academics tab in CalCentral. Advisors will be able to see these grades with the “View As” functionality. Beginning in late-March, this information will be available to advisors in the Student Lookup > Student Overview Academic Plan card.

Student Overview - Academic Plan

  • The Academic Plan card allows advisors to compare the courses listed on a student’s Multi-Year Planner with a student’s actual enrolled classes by semester. This feature enables advisors to identify when a student has altered their planned course toward graduation.

Student Overview - Degree Progress Card (Graduate)

  • The Degree Progress card highlights Graduate Division milestones for masters and doctoral students (e.g., qualifying examination, advancement, filing dates, etc.). This card will display the Graduate Division milestones along with dates and status of completion. This information will be similar to that previously found in GLOW under “Academic History.” This card is currently only available to graduate advisors. It is scheduled to be released to students in late-March.

Faculty and Instructors

My Academics - Committee Card

  • The Faculty Committee card allows faculty to track the progress and status of the graduate students they are currently advising on qualifying examination, thesis, and/or dissertation committees. Doctoral student information displayed on the Faculty Committee card includes information regarding qualifying examination committee members. Instructors will be able to track active and inactive memberships, providing helpful information for merit and promotion cases.

Midterm Deficient Grading - My Academics - Teaching Card

  • Beginning March 6, instructors will access the Midterm Grading Functionality with the Teaching card in the My Academics tab in CalCentral. Units and GPA information displayed to students via CalCentral will be updated to display the information from the student information system.

Reporting

Cal Answers

Cal Answers is UC Berkeley’s analytical reporting tool that provides access to the integrated campus data warehouse. As part of the SIS Project, we are retrofitting each subject area in Cal Answers to begin using SIS Campus Solutions data.

  • The new Cal Answers Student Fees & Payments subject area and dashboard report now use SIS as their source for student financials data from Fall 2016 going forward. Historical data through Summer 2016 continues to be available in the existing Cal Answers dashboard report.

  • The updated Cal Answers Student Applicants subject area and dashboard reports now contain undergraduate admissions historical data, final 2016-17 data, and the first snapshot of 2017-18 data. The SIS Slate admissions system is now the source for this data from 2016-17 going forward.
