January 2019 Release

The SIS January 2019 Release is now available.

Here are some key highlights of new SIS Campus Solutions and CalCentral(link is external) functionality:

Students 

Academic Status Display 

Academic Status display will be available in CalCentral for all active UC Berkeley undergraduate students. The academic status display in the “Status & Holds” card and will include current academic status, date of status update, status history by term (if available), and a “Learn More” link to college resources on related academic policies. 

Instructors

Instructor/Advisor Data Sourcing Improvements 

Improvements have been made to the automated processes that feed the Instructor/Advisor data in SIS Campus Solutions. These improvements will improve the use of functionality such as eForms and attaching instructors to classes they are teaching. 

Staff/Advisors 

Academic Status Display

Academic Status display will be available for advisors in the Student Overview page of CalCentral for all active UC Berkeley undergraduate students. Negative Academic Status will display per term in the “Academic Plan” card for advisors. Additionally, advisors and students will get the Academic Status display in the “Status & Holds” card. This display will include current academic status, date of status update, status history by term (if available), and a “Learn More” link to college resources on related academic policies. 

Instructor/Advisor Data Sourcing Improvements 

Improvements have been made to the automated processes that feed the Instructor/Advisor data in SIS Campus Solutions. These improvements will improve the use of functionality such as eForms and attaching instructors to classes they are teaching.  

eForm Instructions Improvements 

Improvements were made to the instructional information on the Withdrawal eForm to include university and college-level instructions, remove duplicate content, and ensure accuracy and timeliness.  

Annual Updates to Financial Aid Custom Components 

Functionality was updated to support awarding financial aid for the 2019-2020 year. This critical update streamlined application processing.

Automated Award Calculations for Withdrawals 

System and Financial Aid interface modifications were made to automate the calculation of institutional and state funds when a financial aid recipient withdraws from classes. Previously, staff members were required to manually calculate these award adjustments, which were cumbersome. 

Cal Grant Award Status 

Modifications were made to the Award Status Extract (ASE) file to limit results only to students who have a valid undergrad Financial Aid record in fall or spring of the selected aid year.

New Financial Aid Views 

New views have been created to provide aid year, authorizations, and financial aid terms and conditions data. 

Scholarship Configuration Setup improvements 

Functionality improvements were made to way the Middle Class Scholarships (MCS) data is processed in SIS Campus Solutions for the 2020 aid year.
