Prerequisites are requirements for taking a class, such as the English Language Writing Requirement or a prior course. Some prerequisites may be checked by the enrollment system and you will not be allowed to enroll or waitlist if you have not met them. However, some will not be checked by the system and you will be able to enroll. In this case, faculty may enforce the prerequisites at any time during the enrollment and adjustment periods and drop you from the class.
If you have been able to enroll in a class for which you do not meet the prerequisites, please consult with your instructor as soon as possible.
Prerequisites are listed under each class in the Berkeley Guide Course Catalog. Look up the class, then select “Read More [+]”. Not all classes have prerequisites, so they may not be listed.
